- According to the medical dictionary, Shiatsu is a form of therapeutic massage in which pressure is applied with the thumbs and palms to those areas of the body used in acupuncture, allso called acupressure.
Shiatsu has developed in Japan and incorporating techniques of acupressure and Western massage. The purpose of the Shiatsu is to reduce the stress and reliving nausea and vomiting.
Shiatsu is also believed to improve circulation and boost the immune system. Shiatsu can be used to treat the chronical pain, depression and anxiety.
In Asian systems of traditional medicine, diseases are often believed to occur due to disruptions in the flow this energy through the body.
These disruptions may stem from emotional factors, climate, or a host of other causes including stress, the presence of impurities in the body, and physical trauma.
